German Awards for Operation Eagle Assist
Medal collecting is a sometime hobby of mine and I'm a member of the Orders and Medals Society of America. After the 9/11 attacks, NATO AWACS planes were deployed from Europe to America to help defend U.S. airspace. In 2009 I wrote an article for the society's magazine about the medals participating German soldiers received for that operation.

Geneaology is a hobby I picked up from my mother. Because of my own military service I have a particular interest in ancestors who were also in the military. This article I wrote in 2006 details what I found out about a great-great-great grandfather who volunteered for the Confederate Army when he was in his fifties and enlisted in the same unit as his son.
